What is Monocyte-to-HDL Ratio (MHR)?

A calculated ratio combining an inflammatory white-blood-cell count (monocytes) with good (HDL) cholesterol.

This is a calculated value combining two routine results: it divides your monocyte count (from a CBC) by your HDL cholesterol (from a lipid panel). Because monocytes drive inflammation and HDL helps counter it, a higher MHR can be associated with more inflammation and, in research, cardiovascular and metabolic risk, a lower value can be associated with a more favorable balance. It is a general marker, not a diagnosis.
