What is ADMA (Asymmetric Dimethylarginine)?
A small molecule made when the body breaks down certain proteins, and it can interfere with how blood vessels relax.
ADMA is a naturally occurring compound that can block the enzyme that helps your blood vessels make nitric oxide, a signal that lets them relax and widen. Higher levels have been associated in research with stiffer, less flexible blood vessels and with a greater long-term risk of heart and circulation problems, and levels also tend to rise when the kidneys are not clearing it well.
